The Iron Hound Management team is comprised of a small number of versatile real estate professionals hand-picked by founder Robert Verrone. Each member is well-versed in all aspects of the real estate lending cycle.
Our boutique size combined with the wealth of experience and proven integrity of our group provides a dedicated advocacy structure for our clients. This ensures the best possible results across a wide range of services from origination to underwriting and due diligence to securitization, credit and workouts.
Robert A. Verrone
Principal - CEOPrincipal owner Robert Verrone drew from his 23 years experience in the commercial real estate industry and founded Iron Hound in 2009. His goal: to answer the changing needs of under-served commercial real estate owners in a down economy. Robert began his career at Bear Stearns, where he spent several years in the Commercial Real Estate Group. In 2002, he went on to develop and manage Wachovia’s Large Loan Group, which he grew to over $20 billion in loan originations by 2007. Prior to founding Iron Hound, Robert also served as Co-Head of Wachovia’s Real Estate Group, where he was responsible for managing approximately 600 employees and oversaw a debt portfolio valued in excess of $80 billion. Robert received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Moravian College.
John J. Wood
Managing Director - COOJohn Wood began working with Iron Hound in 2009. As Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, he is responsible for the day to day operations of the company as well as restructuring deals for clients. Before joining Iron Hound, John gained valuable experience working as a Director in Wachovia’s Real Estate Group. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Real Estate Americas Division, supporting the many groups that handled origination, underwriting, securitization, trading and investment banking. In addition, John spent twelve years working as Project Manager for both Bank of America and MBNA. In those roles, he managed system enhancements and production operations for various parts of the credit card platform, including the integration of the Business Card portfolios after Bank of America’s $35 billion acquisition of MBNA. John earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Lynchburg College.
Christopher Herron
Managing DirectorChristopher Herron joined the company in 2009 and has over twenty years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. At Iron Hound, he is responsible for the loan restructuring platform along with the debt and equity advisory business. In addition, Mr. Herron sources new origination and acquisition opportunities for Iron Hound. Before coming on board at Iron Hound, Christopher was a Director in Wachovia’s Real Estate Group, where he worked in the Securitization, CMBS, Large Loan and Structured Finance Groups. His responsibilities included loan origination, structuring, execution and disposition of these loans in the secondary market. In his eight years at Wachovia, Christopher originated and sold over $7 billion in loans for the CMBS and Large Loan Groups, and over $500 million for the Structured Finance balance sheet. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bucknell University.
Kevin Thompson
Managing DirectorKevin Thompson joined Iron Hound in 2017 and has over 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. At Iron Hound, Mr. Thompson is responsible for the analysis, underwriting and execution of loan restructurings for clients. Prior to joining Iron Hound, Kevin was a Senior Vice President at CWCapital Asset Management, where he worked for over 13 years in the Asset Management/Non-Performing Loan Group. He was a member of credit committee and was responsible for the oversight of a team of asset managers and analysts, as well as the management of a national portfolio of non-performing CMBS and balance sheet loans. In those duties, Kevin formulated and implemented business plan strategies, reviewed legal documents and third-party reports, and underwrote new issuance CMBS loans. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Anthony D'Amelio
DirectorAnthony D’Amelio joined Iron Hound Management Company in November 2019. Anthony focuses on the underwriting, analysis and execution of loan restructurings, workouts and debt/equity placements across the United States. Prior to joining Iron Hound, Anthony began his career in Cushman & Wakefield’s Professional Real Estate Program in Manhattan where he later became an Analyst on the firm’s Equity, Debt & Structured Finance team. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate Finance from the University of Connecticut.
Tal Savariego
DirectorTal Savariego joined Iron Hound in 2024 and has twenty years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Prior to joining Iron Hound, Tal was a Vice President at Meridian Capital Group, where he handled all aspects of property analysis, debt structuring, and placement for over $10 billion of transactions. Tal has successfully executed transactions for institutional and private clients covering all facets of commercial real estate debt, including balance sheet, conduit, bridge, and construction financing throughout the United States. Tal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from Stern School of Business at New York University.
Will Forbes
AnalystWill Forbes joined Iron Hound Management Company in June 2023. Will focuses on the underwriting, analysis, and the execution of loan restructurings, workouts and debt/equity placements across the United States. Prior to joining Iron Hound, Will interned at CBRE within the Global Institutional Debt Advisory Group and EQT Exeter. Will holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Real Estate with a minor in Engineering and Entrepreneurship from Villanova University.
Adam Gellert
AnalystAdam Gellert joined Iron Hound Management Company in August 2024. Adam specializes in underwriting, analyzing, and executing loan restructurings, workouts, and debt/equity placements across the United States. Prior to joining Iron Hound, Adam interned at SL Green on the Acquisitions team and at Kushner Companies. Adam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University, concentrating in Finance and minoring in Real Estate.
Jack Casper
AssociateJack Casper joined Iron Hound Management Company in January 2023. Jack focuses on the underwriting, analysis, and the execution of loan restructurings, workouts and debt/equity placements across the United States. Prior to joining Iron Hound, Jack began his career at SitusAMC as an Analyst on the Real Estate Valuation Services team. Jack holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance and a Master’s of Science degree in Financial Risk Management from the University of Connecticut.
Yehuda Goldman
AnalystYehuda Goldman joined Iron Hound Management Company in 2024. Yehuda focuses on the underwriting, analysis, and the execution of loan restructurings, workouts, and debt/equity placements across the United States. Prior to joining Iron Hound, Yehuda interned at Extell Development on the New York City development team, and at Fortis Property Group. Yehuda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Economics from Yeshiva University.
Job Warshaw
ConsultantJob Warshaw serves as an exclusive consultant to Iron Hound on complex debt restructuring assignments.
Prior to Iron Hound, he served as President of LNR Partners, LLC, the CMBS industry’s largest special servicer, having joined the company at its inception in 1992. While at LNR, he played a lead role in many of the largest CMBS workouts ever transacted, and his workout experience cuts across all securitized and non-securitized debt products.
As President of LNR, his responsibilities covered oversight of all CMB special servicing activities including loan asset management, defaulted loan workouts, lender consents, REO asset management, dispositions, surveillance, as well as due diligence support for LNR’s CMBS investment activities. He played a key role in all aspects of the formation and growth of LNR’s servicing platform and workout culture, including staffing, training, business development, the development of internal systems and technology, and the formation of special servicing policies and procedures.
Mr. Warshaw holds a BBA from Emory University, with a concentration in Finance. He plays an active role in CMBS causes including CREFC, and is a frequent speaker at various conferences and industry events.
